Curriculum Overview

 

John Hampden provides a broad and balanced curriculum enabling students to move on to study a wide range of courses at university and take advantage of diverse employment opportunities.

 
Key Stage 3
 
All boys will study mathematics, English, physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography, religious studies, French, German, Spanish, art, music, design, PE, drama and the extended project.
 
Key Stage 4
 
Boys will study a core curriculum of maths, English, English literature, physics, chemistry, biology, PE, religious studies  and a modern foreign language. 
In addition they choose an additional three subjects from the following: art, business studies, computing, industrial products, graphics, resistant materials, electronic products, history, geography, philosophy and ethics, music, French, German, Spanish and Physical Education.
 
This enables all students to sit the combination of subjects required for the ‘Ebacc’ if they wish to.
 
Sixth Form
 
In the sixth form students choose four or five AS subjects. The majority of students will then continue these into the upper sixth to complete the A level.
